John Warburton (1776-1857) is born the son of a poor weaver in Stand, England, near the large, industrial city of Manchester. Like his father, John becomes a weaver, but the Lord has another task laid away for him: preacher of the Gospel! After serving a congregation in Rochdale for a few years, John becomes preacher in Trowbridge in 1815.
Throughout the years he also often travels to other places in England to bring the Gospel. He remains united to the congregation of Trowbridge until his death in 1857. In his eventful life John and his family experienced much poverty and wonderful deliverances. He wrote about these in his book Mercies of a Covenant God.
In From Weaver to Preacher, John’s life story is retold, using material from his own book as well as a few other books.
