Shelter From the Storm

Alisha fastens the clasps on her autograph book and puts it on the picnic table. She skips along with Grandpa toward the doghouse, but she sees Grandpa’s worried look as he checks the darkening sky.

“Do you think we’ll have a…a…” What was that word again? “…a tornado?” she asks with a shiver.

“I don’t know, but I don’t trust it.” They hear a low rumbling in the distance.

“Thunder,” whispers Alisha. She walks quickly with Grandpa into the house, holding tightly to his hand.

Left behind on the picnic table lies her blue autograph book with the picture of a bear on its cover….
