Kathryn Rose

Katie Rose was born in Schoolcraft, Michigan. She is married and has six children. Reading has always been very important in her life. She was quite a few years younger than her siblings, and longed for a brother or sister to play with. As that was impossible, she turned to books and found “friends” among the pages.  As a young child, her grandmother lived with her family. Even though this grandma only completed eighth grade, she was a wonderful reader! Katie remembers how books came to life as her grandmother read them. Even when Katie was a teenager, her grandma would pull a religious story off the shelf and begin to read aloud. She knew the importance of wholesome reading and how easily adolescents neglect it. 

 

These memories inspired her to write a story about the strong bond that can form between children and the elderly. Her first book is a tribute to both her grandmothers and the love they showered upon her as a child.
