Joan Blok

Joan Blok was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1957. Even in her childhood she knew she wanted to be a teacher, and she “practiced” on the
neighborhood children. After graduating from college, she moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan to teach elementary grades in a Christian school. Joan
and her husband Tom were blessed with five children, and she spent the next
twelve years at home raising her children. During that time, she struggled to
find devotion books which were appropriate to use with her children. After
returning to the kindergarten classroom, she felt the need to write short stories which applied Biblical truths to her students’ lives, and ABC Devotions for Young Children is the result. Joan retired in 2022 and now enjoys telling
stories and reading to her grandchildren.
